James D. Holland Jr., (Jim), 73, of Navarre, Fla., passed away June 10, 2020 at his home. He was surrounded by his wife of 51 years, Martha, daughter Stacy Holland Dahlberg McLaughlin and his son Cory Holland. Jim had battled Alzheimer’s and dementia for seven years, being cared for by his wife.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, June 27, at 9:30 a.m. at the Navarre Park close to the memorial bridge.

Jim was a retired Master Sergeant and served his country for 23 years in the United States Air Force. He was a Vietnam War veteran. Jim was stationed in England early in his career and was the NCOIC at Red Horse on Hurlburt Field AFB. He was transferred to Tampa, Fla., where he served as a personnel director at CentCom at MacDill AFB until his retirement in 1988.

Jim was a devoted and loving family man. He and his family moved to Navarre, Fla., in 1995 where he became the neighborhood “Poppy” to many kids in the area. He always had smile, a joke and a kind word for everyone.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Lucille Cobb Stewart, stepfather Leroy Stewart and his father James D. Holland Sr.

Jim is survived by his wife Martha Holland; daughter Stacy Holland Dahlberg McLaughlin and son Cory Holland, both of Navarre, Fla.; granddaughter Samantha Dahlberg Lowe (Patrick) of Tampa, Fla.; granddaughter Preslee Holland and grandson Brayden Holland, both of Navarre, Fla.; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
