Funeral services for Constance "Melinda" Bettencourt, 55, of Enterprise were at 3 p.m. Monday, March 8, 2004 at McReynolds-Nave Larson Funeral Home in Clarksville, Tenn., with the Rev. Thad Collier officiating. Local arrangements were handled by Patterson-Sorrells Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Constance "Melinda" Bettencourt, 55, of Enterprise were at 3 p.m. Monday, March 8, 2004 at McReynolds-Nave Larson Funeral Home in Clarksville, Tenn., with the Rev. Thad Collier officiating. Local arrangements were handled by Patterson-Sorrells Funeral Home. Burial followed in Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery in Salem Community, near Clarksville with McReynolds-Nave Larson Funeral Home directing. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in her memory to the American Cancer Society, Citizens Bank, c/o Linda Andress, Memorial Chair, PO Box 310900, Enterprise AL 36331-0900. Ms. Bettencourt died Wednesday, March 3, 2004 at Flowers Hospital in Dothan after a brief illness. She was born in Clarksville, to the late Gobel and Rilla Cornell. She was a member of County Line Baptist Church and had lived in the Enterprise area for the past 20 years. She was a well-liked person and had worked for The Southeast Sun Newspaper for the past few years. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Gladys Wilson. Survivors include her son, Walter Bettencourt III of Enterprise; two sisters, Lucy Rader of Hampton, Va., and Katie Evens of Clarksville; three brothers, Wendell Cornell, Mack Cornell and Robert Cornell, all of Clarksville; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
