The Enterprise High School Big Blue Marching Band took home gold at a recent competition in Phenix City.

The band rehearsed Monday, Tuesday and Thursday every week of school to prepare for the show. They began learning the show in July during band camp. Sean Weiler explained the production process for getting the students ready.

“We prepped the students by setting goals and expectations,” said Weiler. “We as a staff tried to design a show that was unique, educational, and competitive for our students while still trying to entertain our fans and community.”

Weiler explained that his expectations were to not settle for anything less than the band living up to their full potential. “I knew if we performed like we practiced we would be happy with the results,” he said.

The band won overall best color guard, best danceline, best band, gold division best band, most entertaining and overall best band.

The grand champion award stood out to Weiler as most memorable of the lot.

“It was a composite of all the scores, and it was the highest out of every band that day,” shared Weiler. “It meant that every aspect of the Big Blue Band contributed to the success of this award. It was also a testament to our staff and the individual teaching that they do to each element of our show.”
