As the temperatures rise, the summer season is finally here.

Residents are heading to the beach, but there is plenty of fun to be had in Enterprise. Here are some local activities residents can enjoy throughout the summer.

Explore downtown Enterprise: The face of downtown is changing constantly. Check out the new shops and restaurants, or visit an old favorite. Don’t forget to visit the Boll Weevil Monument while you are there.

Stay active: The Enterprise Parks and Recreation Department has plenty of activities to keep children and families busy during the summer. Family Recess Night is held on the third Thursday of every month at the Enterprise Recreation Center, and the “Where the Wild Things Walk” Family Walking Club meets at pavilion 4 at Johnny Henderson Park inside the Enterprise Recreational Complex every Saturday, with some exceptions for holidays and other events. For more information, contact the rec center at 348-2682.

Check out the Farmers Market: The Enterprise Farmers Market has a lot to offer with multiple vendors for produce, jams and other items. Watermelon Contest Day will be held July 1, at 8 a.m. The Farmers Market is located at 525 N. Main St. near downtown Enterprise.

Cool off at the pool: The Enterprise YMCA offers many activities for children during the summer, including swimming classes. The pool is also open for members during the day. The Splash Pad at the Enterprise Recreational Complex is open to the public every day for the summer from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Visit the library: The Enterprise Public Library offers a cool and quiet environment to check out a new book. The library also offers a summer reading program for children, with various events throughout the summer. For more information on upcoming events at the library, call 347-2636.
