New Brockton High School, along with the rest of the town, celebrated homecoming on Friday, Sept. 28.
The festivities started with Paige Bright being crowned this year’s homecoming queen.
After the crowning, the school held a pep rally featuring skits from students with a parade later in the day.
All week, the school has had a blast from the past with the homecoming theme “Back to the 80s.”
Monday was “Crazy 80s” day where students dressed in classic 80s fashion such as big hair, neon colors and sweatbands. Tuesday was “Walk an Egyptian” day and students dressed in togas. Wednesday was “Heavy metal and punk rock” day where students unleashed their inner rebel and recreated the iconic look of the genre. Thursday was “80s flashback flicks” where students were dressed up like famous characters from 80s movies.
Also on Thursday the junior high had its homecoming dance in the afternoon before the traditional painting of the Gamecock later that evening.
Friday was “Gamecock Spirit Day” and students wore homecoming shirts and school colors.
The high school held its homecoming dance Saturday evening.
Keeping with the theme, the Gamecock Pride Marching Band played songs by Journey during its half-time show at the game against Cottonwood.
The Gamecocks overtook Cottonwood in a 42-10 victory to cap off the week of celebration.
“Aliens,” character Corporal Hicks put it best, “Game over, man. Game over!”
