Hundreds of people gathered in downtown Enterprise March 17 for the World’s Smallest St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

Maggie Haas, who had previously served as a grand marshal, took the title again to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. Other grand marshals from years past were also in attendance for the special event.

According to the March 25, 1998 edition of The Southeast Sun, the parade originated around 1993 and was the brainchild of then director of the Enterprise Chamber of Commerce Kathy Sauer and Lucy Klein, who was the co-owner of West Gate Book and Gift. The late Pat Donahue was one of the more notable grand marshals, serving from 1999 to 2006. He brought national attention to the one-person parade back in 2006.
