Dr. Jack Anderson Jr,

Dr. Jack Anderson Jr, was a recent speaker at a combined meeting of the Daughters of the American Revolution John Coffee Chapter and the Sons of the American Revolution Wiregrass Chapter on “Role of the Indians in the Revolutionary War.”  The British appointed Indian Agents who provided the Indians with supplies to include guns and ammunition as well as trade goods, so the majority of the Indians fought for the British.  The Iroquois were annihilated when most of their towns were burned and destroyed by Gen. John Sullivan and his command under the direction of Gen. George Washington who was in later years referred to as “Town Destroyer” by the Iroquois Nation.  Dr. Anderson continued with a history of the Indians in the South including North and South Carolina and the Pensacola area. Interesting memorabilia Dr. Anderson shared with the group included a  reproduction of an Indian tomahawk patterned in steel and a Cherokee Braves Flag of the 1st Cherokee Mounted Regiment (a Cavalry unit of the CSA) that was from the Civil War.  Dr. Anderson holds the aforementioned flag. (Courtesy photo)
