Reverend R.C. Mullins Scholarship deadline approaching

The deadline to apply for Reverend R.C. Mullins Undergraduate Scholarship is June 10, according to Trentino Mullins Lane.

Applications for the scholarship can be picked up at The Olive Fruit at 126 South Main Street in Enterprise.

Last year, thanks to donations, two of these scholarships were given out at the father-daughter dance fundraiser for the scholarship.

“It was a great success last year,” Mullins Lane said. “And so far this year the community has really reached and donated.”

The father-daughter dance this year will be on June 15 at Enterprise State Community College in the multipurpose room with the theme “A King and his Princess.”

Horse and carriage rides will be available at the dance for an additional donation.

Tickets are $20 for the first father and daughter and $5 for each additional daughter. Tickets can be picked up at The Olive Fruit.

The Reverend R.C. Mullins Undergraduate Scholarship was started last year as a way for the Mullins family to keep R.C. Mullins’ legacy alive.

R.C. Mullins’ daughters, Gwendolyn Mullins-Donaldson, Kimberly Mullins, Maria Mullins-Craig, Carolyn Jackson and Mullins Lane came up with the idea.

The group hopes to be able to expand the scholarship and its single fundraiser into a mother-son dance and a family function event.
