An Enterprise nan was arrested and charged with first degree cruelty to animals on Sept 16., according to a press release by Enterprise Police Department Public Information Officer Lt. Billy Haglund.
On Sept. 13, EPD responded to a residence in the 3800 Block of Rucker Boulevard on a call of animal cruelty, according to the release.
A concerned citizen told officers on scene that she had found a small puppy needing medical attention. Officers then determined that the puppy needed urgent medical care and transported the animal, which had severe burns to its feet, belly and nose, to a local veterinarian, according to the release.
The puppy did not survive the injuries, according to the release.
During the investigation, EPD detectives located a burn pit at a nearby residence and identified the suspect as the owner of the puppy, according to the release.
At 4 p.m. on Sept. 16, EPD detectives arrested Taurence Yaphet Marshall, 35, and charged him with first degree cruelty to animals, according to the release.
He was taken to the Dale County Jail after the arrest.
