One dies in traffic accident

One person has died as the result of a traffic accident on Jan. 26, according to a press release from Enterprise Police Department Public Information Officer Lt. Billy Haglund.

At 12:21 p.m. on Jan. 26, EPD responded to a traffic accident at the intersection of Highway 51 and Coffee County Road 272, according to the release.

The accident was a broadside collision involving a minivan and a SUV, according to the release.

The driver of the minivan was pronounced dead at the scene and the driver and passengers of the SUV were transported by hospital for treatment, according to the release.

The cause of the accident is currently being investigated by EPD’s Traffic Homicide Unit, according to the release.

EPD said it will withhold the name of the deceased until next of kin can be notified.

I have always thought that church parking lot right on hwy 51 was extremely dangerous
