The Enterprise Farmer’s Market will be hosting Watermelon Day activities on Saturday, June 29.
The biggest watermelon contest is set for 8:30 a.m. To enter the contest, contestants must bring a photo or digital photo from their phone, of them and the watermelon in their field or garden. The winner will receive bragging rights for the next year and a cash prize.
The seed spitting contest will start at 9 a.m. The contest will be split into various age categories with the contestant who spits a seed the farthest in each category being crowned the winner.
At 10 a.m., contestants will see who can roll a watermelon to the finish line the fastest. The winner will receive a cash prize.
The watermelon eating contest will be held at 11 a.m. Here, contestants will see who can eat a watermelon wedge the fastest with their hands tied behind their back.
Vendors will also be selling watermelons, peppers, blueberries, jams, jellies, salsa, relishes, cakes, cucumbers, etc., and Carroll Farms will be selling fresh pork. These vendors will be open starting at 7 a.m.
The Enterprise Master Gardeners will also have a display booth and the Enterprise Senior Citizens will be selling arts and crafts along with refreshments.
