Arrest made in altered checks case

A suspect wanted by the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office for allegedly taking checks out of people’s mailboxes and altering them was taken into custody on July 2, according to a CCSO update.

Charles Rhodes, 44, of DeFuniak Springs, Fla., was arrested at 12:51 p.m. in Enterprise, according to the Coffee County Jail intake sheet.

He is currently awaiting a transfer to Dale County Jail on a warrant from the Ozark Police Department related to fraudulent checks, according to OPD Chief Marlos Walker.

The CCSO thanked “everyone for their information and quick response,” in the situation.
