Vietnam Veteran Donivan Henry saluted the newly dedicated monument honoring one of his former units during a somber part of the monument dedication ceremony Friday, Oct 9 at Fort Rucker. Henry served two tours in Vietnam, one with the Bird Dogs. Bird Dog pilots flew Cessna L-19/O1 Bird Dogs were airplanes flown by Army, Air Force and Marine pilots from 1950 to 1974.  The Bird Dog troops were heavily used in Vietnam for reconnaissance, target acquisition, artillery adjustment, radio relay, convoy escort and the forward air control of tactical aircraft.
