The Microtel Hotel in Ozark was robbed Sunday, Dec. 31, and police are asking the public for information.
Ozark Police Chief Marlos Walker said that there is reason to believe that the armed robbery is related to the Dec. 4 armed robbery of the same hotel. “In both cases, (the armed robbery) was committed by an individual male suspect armed with a handgun looking for cash,” Walker said.
Walker said that at approximately 9:45 p.m. Dec. 31, the Ozark Dale County E-911 received a call about an armed robbery of the Microtel Hotel on U.S. Highway 231.
The hotel desk clerk told police that a masked man entered the business undetected and rummaged through several items behind the desk.
Walker said the clerk described the suspect as a man between the height of 5 feet, 11 inches and 6 feet tall, armed with an unknown caliber handgun, wearing gloves and wearing black pants, a black mask and a black shirt.
Walker said that the clerk told police that he and the suspect exchanged gunfire during the incident. “There were no injuries sustained and the suspect fled the scene on foot,” Walker said. “Investigators did recover some physical evidence and video footage from the scene.”
The case remains under investigation by the OPD.
