More charges have been filed against an Ozark man and woman first charged with the sexual abuse of a child.

Dale County Sheriff Department’s Chief Deputy Mason Bynum said that John Bright, 49, and Tiffany Hughes, 32, were rearrested late Sept. 23 on 10 charges each of possession of child pornography.

The couple are in Dale County Jail pending a first court appearance Sept. 24.

Bright and Hughes had been free on $180,000 and $150,000 bonds, respectively, after their arrests Sept. 17.

Bynum said that Sept. 17 the DCSO’s office received allegations of sexual abuse involving a minor child under the age 12 from a source in Ozark.

“Investigators immediately acted on the information and subsequently we have executed multiple search warrants both physically and electronically,” Bynum said. “Forensic interviews have been conducted and based on evidence obtained so far we have charged John Bright with first-degree rape, first-degree sodomy, sexual abuse of a child less than 12 and electronic solicitation of a child. Tiffany Hughes has been charged with first-degree rape and sexual abuse of a child less than 12.

“This is an ongoing investigation and we plan to bring additional charges in the future as more evidence is collected,” Bynum said at the time the couple were first arrested. “Due to the sensitive nature of these crimes no further information will be released.”

The DCSO is being being assisted by the Dale County District Attorney’s Office, the State Bureau of Investigation and Federal Bureau of Investigation.
