Zane Stevens

Dale County’s own Zane Stevens will be in action at this weekend’s Hybrid Pro “Battle for the Gold” event in Daleville.

Hybrid Pro Wrestling’s return to Daleville on Aug. 3 will see the crowning of the promotion’s very first Heavyweight Champion appropriately titled “The Battle for the Gold,” along with a number of big matchups.

The Hybrid Pro Heavyweight Champion will be crowned in a unique Battle Royal that will eventually break down into a Triple Threat Match. To be eliminated in the Battle Royal, a competitor must be thrown over the top rope with both feet touching the floor. When the Battle Royal shrinks to just three competitors left, it becomes a Triple Threat Match.

In the triple threat, the first wrestler to earn a pinfall or submission will be crowned Hybrid Pro Heavyweight Champion.

Before the Battle Royal, however, the dastardly masked Street Bandit wants revenge on Mackenzie York for his loss last month and says he will demand a rematch. On July 13, Bandit was shocked when York rolled him up and earned a pinfall victory in her first match in three years.

Following the loss, Bandit claims that York pulled his tights as she rolled him up to earn an unfair advantaged. For her part, York has said that she is open to any and all challengers.

At last month's Hybrid Pro debut the high-flying Chase Evans picked up a surprising pinfall win over the Hybrid National Champion Cameron Thomas in a non-title match. That win means Evans will get a chance to face off with Thomas at "Battle for the Gold" with the National Title on the line!

In tag team action the debuting Sick City Saints will do battle with Bred for War!

Making his return to Daleville for the first time since 2015, Dale County native Zane “BTY” Stevens – a former AIWF World Heavyweight Champion – will also be in action.

T-Bird, Cali Man, Slingshot Shaddox, Stunt Marshall Alejandro Bavado and Dark Rage will also all be in action.

“Battle for the Gold” takes place Saturday, Aug. 3, at the VFW in Daleville with doors opening at 6 p.m. and bell-time at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 at the door and children under four get in free. The VFW in Daleville is also handicap assessable.

Reserve seats can also be secured for $8 ahead of the show at (334) 589-0462 or on Facebook at
