Hundreds of civilians and military families were able to explore dozens of potential vacation locations during the 29th Annual Travel Extravaganza on Fort Rucker Feb. 22. The event was hosted by the Army post’s Leisure Travel Services at The Landing.
Some 60 vendors from Alabama, Florida, Georgia and Tennessee were on hand to provide brochures and travel guides to those inquiring whether for a real trip or just a curiosty.
Whether someone was looking to travel several hours to somewhere like Disney World in Orlando and Opryland in Nashville or find a cool place to have leisure time close by like the Emerald Coast or Lake Eufaula, there was no shortage of information about ways to travel, places to stay or things to do.
"This event is important to the military community because it gives them ideas and options of travel destinations in the area. A lot of people do not realize what all is within driving distance to here that they have the ability to see and utilize,” Savery Wile, the coordinator for the event.
