Crashed plane took

UPDATE: The name of the person who died in the single engine plane crash near Dadeville Tuesday, March 28, is Jeannette Carol Currier, 66.

David Lee Currier, 67, of Daleville, was airlifted to a Columbus, Ga. hospital, according to Tallapoosa County Sheriff Jimmy Abbett.


A plane that crashed in Tallapoosa County Tuesday, March 28, had taken off from the municipal airport in Enterprise before noon Tuesday.

City of Enterprise Communications Director Jason Wright confirmed Tuesday afternoon that the single-engine plane had departed Enterprise airport at 11:18 a.m. Wright declined further comment “under the circumstances,” he said.

According to the flight log, the Beachcraft Bonanza six-seat plane was headed towards Sparta, Tenn.

According to news reports from the Dadeville City Hall, state and county law enforcement officials were on the scene of a plane crash near the city of Dadeville in Tallapoosa County. According to the “Alexander City Outlook,” Tallapoosa County Sheriff Jimmy Abbett has confirmed that one woman is dead in the crash. A man has been  airlifted to a hospital in Columbus, Ga.

The "Alexander City Outlook" reports that Abbett said that at 12:45 p.m. his department received a call that a plane may have gone down in the area.

Abbett said that the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Bureau were on their way to the scene to begin the task of investigating the scene. Abbett said he could not speculate on what may have caused the crash.

The wreckage is reported to be approximately 300 yards behind the industrial park off of U.S. Highway 280.
