Fort Rucker investigates soldier’s death

Fort Rucker has opened an investigation into the death of a soldier, according to a press release from Fort Rucker Public Affairs Officer David Agan.

Officials at the base were notified at 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 1, that a soldier at Fort Rucker had been medically evacuated to Southeast Health Medical Center after experiencing symptoms during a training event, according to the release.

At 9 p.m. on Sept. 1, the soldier was pronounced dead, according to the release.

The cause of death is under investigation, according to the release.

The soldier’s name is being withheld until next of kin can be notified, according to the release.

Fort Rucker will provide more information as it becomes available.
