Two dead in Dale County shooting

Anyone with information about two men found dead early Jan. 3 on County Road 123 in Ozark is asked to call the Ozark Police Department.

Ozark Police Chief Marlos Walker said the two men found unresponsive were pronounced dead at the scene after the Ozark-Dale County E911 received a call at about 5:30 a.m.

“Law enforcement investigators have collected multiple pieces of evidence that will help determine a motive and a possible suspect,” Walker said Jan. 6. “Although it is very early in the investigation, enforcement believes the evidence dictates foul play was present during this event.”

Walker said both men suffered gunshot wounds and both will be sent to the Department of Forensic Sciences to officially determine the cause of death.

Names of both victims will be kept confidential until notification of next of kin are made, Walker said.

The Ozark Police Department is being assisted by the Dale County Sheriff’s Office, the State Bureau of Investigation, the Department of Corrections, the Dothan Police Department and the Ozark Fire and Emergency Medical Service.
