Long-term AUSA member honored

During the Fort Rucker-Wiregrass Chapter of AUSA’s general membership breakfast on Thursday, Aug. 1, Sgt. Maj. (ret.) Sam MacMaster was honored for his service to the Fort Rucker-Wiregrass AUSA Chapter and the association as a whole. According to Chapter President Col. (ret.) Mark Jones, MacMaster enlisted in the Air Force in 1963, serving 17 years. He later returned to military service in the Army for another 13 years. Jones said MacMaster became involved with AUSA in Kentucky in 1996, before serving on the National Advisory Board of Directors for NCO and Enlisted Affairs from 1997-2003. He later joined the Fort Rucker-Wiregrass Chapter Board in 2000. MacMaster served as vice president for membership from 2006-07, vice president for programs from 2007-08, vice president of awards from 2008-09 and president from 2009-10. He recently retired from his position as chapter treasurer, which he served since 2015. He also served as the Third Region Vice President.
